The Dark Side of the Force

A pretty powerful week in the animes if you’re a Symphogear fan, as this week’s carries on from the cliffhanger last week, and it is most certainly not worth missing for fans of Berserk-Hibiki from last season. Elsewhere, a fairly standard week for everyone else involved with a few twists.

Also, don’t forget that Anime Saimoe Tournament 2013 is going on, with the first preliminary over yesterday. After the Comiket break, the second preliminary is on August 13th. Just a Small Town World

One of the reasons I will continue to push Space Brothers to the top of any AOTY consideration, as I did in 2012, is simply because it is one of the best shows being produced that bothers to actually capture everything vividly and accurately. Most animation studios don’t bother to make non-Japanese characters or settings realistic, and I can understand that, their target audiences don’t care. But when they do, I feel like they really capture the story they want to tell more accurately than if they had not, and when it comes to astronauts, engineers, and space, this show really pulls out the stops to document space travel from fictional points of view.

Dreams Upon Stars

It’s been awhile since I’ve talked about the still-running anime based on astronauts, space, NASA/JAXA, and everything in-between, and that is Space Brothers. It’s been on the air now for a little over a year, crossing the fifty episode mark a month and a half ago, but with a few recap episodes airing recently, I didn’t care to really get back on until they ended last week opening up with a new arc in the ASCAN saga, building a rocket that deploys a parachuting rover.

I’m Really Lazy

It seems we’re at an impasse here.

So yes, it’s been about three weeks since I’ve had a proper update with this season’s showings. I’ve made some Twitter comments, and updated the Quick Bites on the sidebar, but not much else. It’s really because while what I am watching isn’t bad, it’s nothing really gripping to write about either. This has prompted me to watch regular programming, notably NCIS, Top Gear, and Archer. But since those are not anime, I can’t tell you how good they were.

So I’m terribly sorry for that, and I’m going to fix it. Hold on to your butts.
