Expect this post to be updated between now and twenty-four hours from now with info on episode ones of K-ON!!, Mayoi Neko Overrun!, and Working!!
But first:
Ikkitousen: Xtreme Xecutor isn’t going to really shock you as much different from the previous seasons, though they throw in some action from the very beginning compared to a rather slow third season that really was more about Kan-u being lesbian for Gentoku, but everyone loves a tsundere. Nevertheless, they introduce another quirky hard-hitter and of course give you plenty of Sonsaku fanservice. Can’t complain with that.

Recently I’ve been re-watching The Powerpuff Girls, the original American version. I often refer to this as the “golden age” of Cartoon Network because when the channel first came together in the mid to late 90’s, it was running on mostly Hanna-Barbara leftovers, and the “What A Cartoon/World Premiere Toons” contest really threw in some of the best cartoons I’ve seen since Nickelodeon pretty much gave up on good cartoons around the time CN started. Until probably a few years ago, Craig McCracken pretty much ran that channel’s programming, being heavily involved in Dexter’s Labratory, creator of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, and other stuff. Sadly, in my opinion, trying to keep up with Disney’s dominance of live-action programming and Williams St.’s terrible drug-induced shit on Adult Swim, CN, like much of the American animation industry, has blew hard over the last half-decade.
However to get to the point, I grabbed all of the anime version of the PPG, Powerpuff Girls Z. It’s magical girl, it’s magical girl transformation scenes, and it can be pretty cornball at times, much like the original, but it’s pretty good stuff, just like the original. I actually think it would be pretty cool if all of the American series voices could do the English dub, but I’m pipe-dreaming at this point.
