I’ve been doing anime for probably close to 13-14 years now, Toonami introducing me to the world, and then having friends in high school thrust me deeper into the world years later. I don’t regret anything and apologize for nothing, contrary to crotchety old people and normal snobs, and without taking anime too seriously, I’ve appreciated the diversity it introduced to my life, and all the things that came from it. I went places, did things, and met a lot of cool people through this fandom, and while I’ve scaled down a lot of those activities to focus on more important things, I still find the time to watch cool new shows and tell you poor bastards what I think.
Since 2009 I’ve been writing this blog about shows I’ve been watching new from Japan that season, and there have been a lot of good shows in that time, also some bad ones. Before that, I would watch a few shows airing here and there, but I wasn’t as involved in the scene as I am currently now. I’ve sprinkled a few reviews here and there on some older shows, but as it stands, of my complete list of watched series, I haven’t scratched the surface of telling you what I thought about a lot of other shows. I could go through them all on MAL and review them there, but >MAL and I haven’t seen a lot of these shows in a number of years. That needs to change.
I’m not sure how many readers read this site. My plugin says hundreds of people visit this site daily, but I imagine most of that is either google bot spam, people looking for facesitting porn from Ladies x Butlers, and maybe a couple people who venture in from Facebook and Twitter. I don’t put a lot of effort into marketing this site at all, or making it out to be anything special in any real way, because I’m a pretty low-key guy, I write when I want to, I talk about whatever I want, and I don’t expect anyone to read it, really. I don’t report to anyone and am not responsible for content deadlines or anything else. In short, I don’t give a fuck. I like to think I attract a small segment of the internet anime population that just wants to read some guy talk about some shows for five minutes and then move on to the next thing.
That being said, I’m reaching out to this small base to field some ideas for classic shows to burn through and review, preferably from my list above since I likely have the media kicking around somewhere, but suggest anything you think I’d like. My goal is to try to get two or more classic reviews up a month, maybe more when I have extra time. That way you got something else to read besides new shit, and I can go back and see if any of this shit from years ago withstood the test of time, the ultimaye nostalgia goggles test.
