Space CQC

Long time no see, which is entirely my fault. With Mario Marathon last week and other work going on, I fell behind in watching the animes and reviewing shows ending from this season. So I’ll attempt to catch up now as new stuff begins this week and next.

SUPER HAKER
Coorie the Power Hacker

I’ve thought a lot about what to compare this show to, but in the end, I couldn’t feel right about comparing it to anything, even the legendary Outlaw Star. Moretsu Pirates took twenty-six episodes to tell a number of short adventures culminating in one satisfying ending that still left a little room for last-minute surprises. The ending was left pretty wide open, which suggests more of this could be made down the road, and honestly, I am okay with that.

Title: Moretsu Pirates
Sub Group I Watched: Horrible
Episodes: 26
Rating (1-10): 8

Favorite Character: Coorie
Least Favorite Character: Can I say no one?
Favorite Pirate Ship: Bentenmaru, obviously
School Girl Antics: You know, at first I thought I wouldn’t enjoy it, but they weaved it so well into everything that it would be hard to think of the show without them.
Chiaki Smile: Needs more

SHE'S GOING TO SUCK YOUR--
Delicious urges come in pretty packages

I had thought of this show as being something worthy of praise in the beginning, but Sankarea unfortunately slipped in the halfway before re-claiming some ground in the end. Really it was a matter of pacing. They choose to come out of the gate swinging in the beginning, but then after she became a zombie, it was like they weren’t sure what to do and started filling it with episodes about Mero and other things, before finally ending it in sort of a floppy terrible way. I guess I shouldn’t have expected much, but it just seemed like there was something more. Maybe I am starting to dull to these shows that plod along in hopes of being green-lit second seasons.

Title: Sankarea
Sub Group I Watched: Commie
Episodes: 12
Rating (1-10): 8

Favorite Character: Wanko
Least Favorite Character: Danichirou
Better Ending: No one knew about her being a zombie and she attacks her father and turns him into a zombie.
Best Ending: Rea turns Wanko into a zombie and Furuya gains a zombie harem
FINAL COUNTDOWN Ending: Rea turns everyone into zombies, Mero chainsaws them all dead.

Sweet, sweet Caroline
Someone promised her cake.

If there is one show this season you should watch, Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna should be that one. It’s got a different art style than what you might be used to, but it’s got style and gusto that you won’t get from much else, and the Lupin universe is always interesting. The only thing you have to be careful of, is that shit get weird and outright strange on a constant basis. Owls are also a big deal in this show, so if you hate owls, you might want to rethink your lot in life. Otherwise, hit it with all it’s worth. Beware of the final boss in the end though, it’s like an autotuned Japanese GlaDOS.

Title: Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna
Sub Group I Watched: Commie
Episodes: 12
Rating (1-10): 9

Favorite Character: Arsene Lupin III
Least Favorite Character: Oscar
You Obviously Like Owls: This is the kinda show that could air on Toonami and be popular with the Adult Swim crowd. Imagine what some of those episodes would be when you’re baked.
GlaDOS: Seriously?
Oscar: Seriously, what is with that guy? Besides his homo-love for Zenigata, the whole cross-dressing thing? Creepy.

Nope.
Yep.

Paying attention to this show was hard at times, because nothing serious ever happened, but that was more or less okay, because the crazy shit that occurred was always amusing. Hatsuyuki Haiyore Nyaruko-san is a show you watch for hilarity and references to anything and everything you’ve watched before. That’s really all there is to say.

Title: Hatsuyuki Haiyore Nyaruko-san
Sub Group I Watched: Commie
Episodes: 12
Rating (1-10): 7

Favorite Character: Nyaruko
Least Favorite Character: Hastua
Relevant to my Interests: Wouldn’t you like to know?
Favorite Episode? The body-swapping one.
Trying to be like Kami Nomi: That episode where they were stuck in the game? Would have been funnier if they tried to parody Kami Nomi.

That’s all I have for now, have to run out and do some things, but I’m off until Thursday, so I’ll be filling this site in, as well as doing more prep work for Saimoe. Stay tuned.
