The Boredom Games

After two weeks of not watching anime, in favor of watching House on Netflix, I returned to about a dozen or more episodes of shit to watch, and was just so incredibly disappointed with some of the lot.

Kicking off this post, is a drop. I don’t drop shows easily, mainly because there is usually something keeping me around despite bad everything else. Unfortunately, Akuma no Riddle has none of those things. It was just simply boring. But I’ll try to explain why.

The Warming Trend

It’s week three of the spring anime season, and I guess if you aren’t ten years old hyped up on the latest anime fad, you’re probably trying to find something else to tide you over between the spoonfuls of sugar the anime industry claims helps the medicine go down. Well, I’ll be fair, it’s not all that bad, some of these shows are actually quite decent, but let’s face it, you go into every season hoping to be blown (or scissored?) away like Joss Whedon fans, but like Joss Whedon fans, you end up being blueballed and left to cry alone in a corner as he walks away smiling with more of your cable package dollars. Thanks, Writer’s Guild strike!

Alas, here is a quarterly-ranking of what I am watching this season in order from best-to-worst. This was hard. Really. But we’ll get through this together. It will be Fall soon. Log Horizon will come.

Modular Living

The spring season starts this weekend, and out of the gate we have some promising flowers in Bokura wa Minna Kawaisou, Akuma no Riddle, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders, and Seikoku no Dragonar. I’m also tentatively adding Selector Infected WIXOSS to the lineup, as it was worth seeing more. I also previewed the first episode of Majin Bone, but I am less impressed.
